Bachelor of Sport and Recreation – Sport and Exercise Science.
NZIHF personal trainer.
Auckland Powerlifting Association club level referee.
Work experience: I have worked in the fitness industry since 2012. I started as a gym instructor then progressed towards owning a successful personal training business and have continued to do so since 2014. Additionally I have extensive experience working as a trainer in rugby league from club to national level – the pinnacle of this being the trainer for the NZ under 16’s team in 2017.
I pride myself on working very closely with my athletes in order to get the most out of them performance wise.
Powerlifting experience: I have been coaching powerlifting athletes online and in-person since 2016 and have managed to find success with a variety of approaches determined by the individuals needs. Additionally I have been lifting weights for over 13 years and competing in powerlifting since 2014 – managing placings at both regional and national level.
Coaching philosophy: I pride myself on working very closely with my athletes in order to get the most out of them performance wise. This is largely why PPS employs a week to week coaching approach as it allows my programming to be reactive in nature and in turn helps develop the optimal training stimulus for the athlete. I don’t push my athletes to breaking point nor do I apply a “no pain no gain” mentality, yet I prefer a much more logical and periodically aggressive approach. I feel this approach is much more sustainable and is conducive towards the athlete having a long and healthy career
